Soil Safe Provides Scholarship

In its ongoing support of education in Carteret, SoilSafe was pleased to provide a $1,000 scholarship to a member of Carteret High School's Class of 2016.

After receiving strong applications from students interested in pursuing a STEM education, and following careful deliberation, the company decided to award Katherine Orrelana.

Katherine tells us she will be attending the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark to study civil engineering, following four very successful years at Carteret High School. Katherine was editor of the yearbook, was a member of the National Honor Society and was involved in numerous programs and clubs. She also excelled in a rigorous, advanced program of study.

"It is refreshing to know that countless hours of study and homework were not in vain," she says. "As an engineer, not only would I be majoring in something that I have a passion for, but I would also be working to improve the lives of people around the world."

Pete Anthony, manager of the Soil Safe site in Carteret, was on hand in May at the high school's award ceremony to honor Katherine for all her achievements, to date. Congratulations to Katherine and best wishes!
